Have you ever heard when they say “you’re in the red?”  That’s a business term that means you’re losing money.  That’s not a good thing.  In this case, the amounts highlighted in red means that you are paying more each month than you should be.  Higher rent and extra “hidden” costs that are sucking money from your wallet like a giant Hoover vacuum cleaner aimed straight at your pocket.  No joke!  Why spend a fortune if you don’t have to?

So, because they have pushed more of the utilities onto you, you end up paying anywhere from $50 - $160 more per month!  It’s like you’re paying to rent two apartments but only getting to live in one!  One for the price of two!   What’s wrong with this picture?!?!?

So in this case, you could be paying up to 60% more for a room at another complex than you would pay at College Terrace!   We told you “they” wouldn’t want you to see this information!  For tanning booths & other stuff you’ll never use!

Ok, let’s take this a step further . . .

Look at it this way:  you pay $150 more per month, which translates into $1,800 per year, and over 2 years that translates to $3,600.   More for them, less for you.  In this economy, where people are losing their jobs, their homes, where banks are failing and with no end in sight, does this make sense?

So let’s say you make $10 per hour at your job.  So you are actually working up to 15 hours more per month just to pay for your extra rent, heat and water.  That’s before you pay taxes, pay tuition, pay for books, pay for groceries, pay to go out once in a while, pay for beer (just kidding!  - or am I?), etc.  The lesson here: SPEND WISELY.

So in this example, this works out to $1,800 per year, and a $3,600 total extra amount over 2 years.  The price is NOT nice!

Pretty good deal for them!  Not so good for you!   Beat the Secret Charges and Save A Bundle!

Instead of getting bent out of shape, imagine what life would be like if you were able to save all that dough instead!

Still Not Convinced That the College Terrace Apartments

Are The Best Deal at Kirkwood?

Well then, let’s take a look at the graph below.  It compares what it costs to live in a sampling of some of the other apartment complexes at Kirkwood:

The above graph is another way to look at how much extra you’re paying for some of the other more expensive options at Kirkwood.  Try not to lose your temper while we break this down even further . . .

The yellow portion of the graph is the straight rent you pay every month.

The green portion represents all the extra costs you pay – the additional utilities you get stuck paying – than you would if you had instead picked College Terrace.  In this case, it’s more green for them, not you!

The red portion represents how much extra you pay overall for living somewhere else – the additional rent and utilities you pay on a monthly basis.  So as an example, you’d be paying $200 more per month to live at Florida Court than you would if you had instead picked College Terrace.

Ouch.

How are those tanning booths looking again?  What, you want to look orange like those clowns on Jersey Shore???  J

Hey, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with any of these other apartment complexes at all – we think they’re great places, and we’re all free to choose where we want to live.  It’s a free country.

But, we’re living in one of the worst recessions in our country’s history, and money is tough to come by.   People are losing jobs & their homes.   And there’s more to come.  Without a doubt, College Terrace is the affordable alternative.

Tanning Booths and Volleyball Courts???

It’s true, we don’t have any tanning booths or volleyball courts at our complex - yet.  But since when do you need these to get good grades or enjoy the college life?  And who needs volleyball courts in the freezing Iowa winters?  Think about it – is paying an extra $150 or more per month worth it?   And then paying for more of your own utilities on top of that?  Believe me, that’s not keeping your bottom line first!  While there’s nothing wrong at all with many of these new complexes (we actually like them), you have to ask yourself this one question: Is it really worth it?
